Blogging Newbie

3 07 2009

I moved all my blogging newbie rants over to Blogger because WordPress does not allow for Ads on their  site.

Check out my Blogger Blogs:

I am a newbie at blogging, and am experimenting with these 3 blogs.  The good news about my WordPress blog is that it has been picked up by an RSS feed.  My Blogger ones have not, at least to my knowledge.  WordPress dashboard features allow me to figure this out.  I found it under Comments : Spam.  I followed the link, and sure enough, I am being updated on the RSS feed about health.  Maybe it is the subject matter.  I’m not writing about Health on Blogger.

The reason is that WordPress makes money by the Ads they sell, and it is part of their agreement with their Advertisers. Again, there seems to be a lot of WordPress blogs which do have Ads.

The fine points in the Word Press Terms of Service is that if you have your own websites, you can blog on WordPress about your own business.  What you can’t do is blog advertising through sites such as Blogsvertise and Google AdSense.

How do I know?  I wrote to WordPress directly.  Anthony repiled and gave me the scoop.

So what is with the WordPress blogs who do use Ads?  The proceeds either go to WordPress – or possibly these are older blogs, who signed up before the Terms of Service changed.

Pokeweed, Pigeon Berry, Poke Root, Coakum, Pocan

Poke Root - Phytolacca decandra

Pokeweed, Pigeon Berry, Poke Root, Coakum, Pocan is one of the main ingredients in Karma Cleanse, an Eagar Cayce formulation available on EdgarCayceOnline.com and NaturalAlternativePath.com

Background: Poke is a toxic herb which may be eaten after long boiling. Medicinally, poke is used as purgative and anti-inflammatory. Poke grows in shady soil across eastern North America. The green or purple stems bearing simple leaves and white flowers that give way to purple staining berries, was used in small doses by the Indians as a blood purifier. The roots were crushed and roasted. This plant must be properly cooked or it can be toxic.

Constituents: Poke root’s main constituents include triterpenoid saponins, alkaloid, resins, phytolacic acid, tannin, formic acid, fatty oil and sugar.

Medicinal Action and Uses: A slow emetic and purgative with narcotic properties. As an alterative it is used in chronic rheumatism and granular conjunctivitis. As an ointment, in the proportion of a drachm to the ounce, it is used in psora, tinea capitis, favus and sycosis, and other skin diseases, causing at first smarting and heat.
The slowness of action and the narcotic effects that accompany it render its use as an emetic inadvisable. It is used as a cathartic in paralysis of the bowels. Headaches of many sources are benefited by it, and both lotion and tincture are used in leucorrhoea.

As a poultice it causes rapid suppuration in felons. The extract is said to have been used in chronic rheumatism and hemorrhoids. Authorities differ as to its value in cancer.

Articium Lappa, commonly known as Burdock Root is another main ingredient in Karma Cleanse.

Background: Burdock grows wild throughout much Europe and the northern United States.
Traditionally, burdock was used as a blood purifier and to treat skin sores.

Today burdock is also used as a systemic cleanser and is particularly noted
as a liver purifier and hormone balancer, especially in cases of skin, arthritic and glandular problems.

The large-leafed plant bears thistle-like red or purple flowers set in a round, fruiting head, covered with burrs. Burdock grows wild along field borders from July to September and the burrs cling to the fur of any passing animal or to a person’s clothing.
The idea for the product known as Velcro came from the sticking quality of the burrs.

According to the Cayce readings, the intended action of burdock was as a digestive stimulant to the stomach, intestines, pancreas and liver.

Burdock Root is also used in Chinese Medicine and Asian cooking. You can find Burdock Root in many asian markets.

Queen’s Delight is another main ingredient in Karma Cleanse.

In the naturalist world in North America is was used extensively for treating Syphilis.

Herbalists also use this herb as a blood purifier, digestive aid and immune enhancer.
Edgar Cayce recommended Stillingia as a blood purifier and digestive aid, especially with reference to stimulating the liver, kidneys and spleen.
I know from Chinese Medicine, the Spleen is Yellow.  The Spleen is an often overlooked organ that is instumental in the detoxifying process of the body.  An admin at work had a ruptured spleen, and had to have it taken out.  The Emergency Room doctor told her that she could get by without it.
In western medicine, there is the notion that you can get by without your spleen, tonsils, gallbaldder, appendix, etc.

In Chinese Medicine, the body organs are all related.  There is an order to them.  If you remove one of these body organs that help remove toxins from your body, the next organ in line has to take over and carry the load.
Yes, you can get by without any one of them, but in the long run, do you really want to put a load on the rest of your system?
This is where Natural Alternative Paths to well being are key.

If you lighten your toxic intake (smoking, alchohol, trans fats, pesticides, etc) then it takes a load off your system, and maybe your detoxifying body organs can regenerate themselves.  Many people go on cleansing diets in the Spring and Summer.  It’s like Spring Cleaning for your body.  Your body will thank you for it.

I updated my websites with these images, and today I’m updating the nav bars.  What I like about building websites is the artistic expression.  I am a web designer/Photoshop artist, who makes money building websites for corporations.  My websites (see list to the right) are my personal expression websites for family and friends.
In this new Global Economy, can I take my personal expressions and get them to generate extra funds to help put my kids through college?  This is my blog explore.  Is there a way to get there from here?

Wild Cherries, Wild Cherry Bark and Karma Cleanse

20 06 2009

Okay.  Now that we’ve estasblished that this is not the place for Blogging for Money, but I can write about what’s going on, let me say that I’ve opened a blog on Blogger.  I’ve decided to write about being a newbie blogger on my Blogger blog.  I’m calling it:

LAKE OSWEGO MOM

Concious Threads in a Chaotic World From Life to Near Death and Back Again

I’ve crosslinked my WordPress and Blogger blogs, and added links to my websites on my Blogger blog in my About Me.  I also added Google AdSense to my Blogger blog.  It’s all very new to me.  At least I’m a seasoned software developer, so at least I have some clues to where I’m going.  Adding links to my websites on these blogs should give them more visibility.

Back to building my website.  I am working on adding more content about Karma Cleanse for my EdgarCayceOnline.com and NaturalAlternativePath.com websites.  I went out and did an image search, and found lots of images of  Wild Cherries and Wild Cherry Bark

Wild Cherry Bark

Wild Cherry Bark

There were lots of photos of products made with Wild Cherries and Wild Cherry Bark, which is the main ingredient in Karma Cleanse.  This brings back memories of taking Vicks Wild Cherry coughdrops as a kid.  They are so good.  I have alot of Edgar Cayce research about the ingredients in Karma Cleanse since it is made from his recipe.

I will be writing about my findings on my websites about Wild Cherry and Wild Cherry Bark health benefits.  Edgar Cayce was a pioneer in this field.  Now that scientific research ahs caught up to his findings, I plan to write comparatives on NaturalAlternativePath.com

NO Blogging for Money on WordPress.com

19 06 2009

I got an official answer back from WordPress support.  No blogging for money on WordPress.com  If we want to blog for money, download the WordPress.org app onto your own hosting site.

I got word that Blogger is a better place to go for Blogging for Money.

So there are lots of you that do Blog for Money on WordPress.com.  If you started a long time ago, the rules may have changed, and you are grandfathered in.  Lucky you.

This still leaves me with the  Blogging for Money vs Websites for profit question.

Then there is the other alternative of writing iPhone apps.  There are fewer of us who can pull this off.

Blogging for Money vs Website for Profits

18 06 2009

While at the Silva Method workshop last weekend in Gig Harbor, I googled Silva Method Weight Control and came up with an interesting article on Blogging for Money.  The article reviewed Blogsvertise as a place to sign up to blog and get paid for blogging.  It sounded so simple and easy.  I started my first blog yesterday here on WordPress.  I have been writing for a long time, so I thought I could apply my writing talents to blogging.  My kids blog all the time.

Since Monday, I have been researching this at night after a full day’s work as a .Net software developer.  By night, I build websites for my friends and for fun.  After reading some of the blogs on WordPress and elsewhere, it is unclear whether WordPress allows such blogs on this site.  Some threads say No. Others appear to be doing it anyway.  I wrote to WordPress support, and will hopefully get an answer soon.

Some of the blogs I read on Blogging for Money wrote about strategies as sophisticated as one would find for SEO for websites.  So what is this phenomenon?  Are blogs like mini-websites?  What are the best sites for new bloggers to start out in the Blogging for Money biz?

If it takes just as much strategizing to Blog for Money as it does to have a Website for Profits, what advantage is there?

If the answer is neither, and it is a wash, maybe writing iPhone apps is the way to go. Like others, I want to leverage my talents.

Gig Harbor, Washington

17 06 2009

Spent the weekend in Gig Harbor near the beautiful Olympic Peninsula west of Tacoma, Washington.  We stayed at a AAA two star rated Days Inn in Port Angeles for under $100 per night – (AAA rates).  It was fresh, quiet, comfortable, and has a refreshing indoor pool and spa.  It was better than we had expected.  A great find.  It makes for a very affordable weekend jaunt.

Gig Harbor is quaint and charming.  It is very walkable.  There were many people out walking their dogs.  We found a fabulous restaurant called Thai Hut.  There is outdoor seating overlooking the harbor.  It was filled with local residents, a very good sign.  The portions were generous, and the service quite good.  I recommend the Pineapple Prawns in yellow curry.

Our weekend in Gig Harbor was to attend a newly created Silva Method Life System workshop.

www.SilvaMethod-Washington.com

I had taken the original workshop years ago when I was 19 years old.  Jose Silva was a visionary.  At the time, one of his core intentions was to teach his kids how to do well in school.  As I was attending UCLA at the time, I took the course to help me study.  I highly recommend it to all serious seekers of knowledge.  I brought my kids so they can do better in school.  The first time I took it, it was a 4 day course.  Decades later, they have decided to split the course into two workshops.  The first one is the Silva Life System, and the second is the Silva Intuition Training.

The Silva Intuition Training delves into the realm of psychic healing, from a very scientific perspective.  It is very esoteric for the adventurous, or spiritually inclined.  It is a practical grounded sensible approach to tuning one’s psychic abilities.

Out of all the workshops I’ve taken, this set has been the best. A great plus about the Silva Method is their intention.  It isn’t about the money for them, in fact it is quite a bargain, when you consider that you can take refresher courses for very nominal sitting fees (like $50) for the rest of your life.  Visionaries such as Wayne Dyer and Jack Canfield started here.  Check this link for workshops in your area.  The Silva Method is very popular in the Southwest and Latin America.

www.SilvaMethod.com

Gig Harbor is a beautiful setting for hosting small workshops.  There is a wonderful ambiance about the harbor.  It is close enough to the Seattle Tacoma Airport without being so close that you feel like you are still in urban sprawl.
